Manhattan Beach is one of the three beach cities in the South Bay located on the Pacific coast, south of El Segundo, and north of Hermosa Beach. The population of Manhattan Beach is 35,116. Back in 1901, the city was divided between George Peck and John Merill, Peck's area referred to as "Shore Acres" and Merrill's area named "Manhattan", after his previous home in New York City. They could not agree on a name, and a coin flip decided that the official name should be Manhattan.

Manhattan Beach has a lot to offer, whether you are interested in Beach Volleyball, Surfing, Coffee Shops, Restaurants or just simply going for a swim or a walk on the beach. The city even offers a 9-hole golf course for those who are interested in playing gold.

It is a breathtaking place to call home as it is ranked as one of the best suburbs in Los Angeles County, largely thanks to high earning and well educated residents. The School District is also amongst the best in the nation and it is ranked as the third best school district in California.

The 928-foot long Pier at the end of Manhattan Beach Boulevard offers free fishing all year. The pier also has an Aquarium attached to it, and is free to the public. It contains everything from baby sharks to lobsters and brightly colored fish. A great outing for families!

In downtown Manhattan Beach, you will find a great variety of dining restaurants, specialty boutiques and retailers selling everything from chocolate to art. It is a very pedestrian-friendly area and Manhattan also offers a concrete bike path alongside the beach as well as a 2.1 mile walkway for pedestrians.
